Medieval manuscript miscellanies

This collaborative project has developed within the Cultures of the Written Artefact research strand, in particular through the continuing success of the staff-postgraduate students palaeography and codicology school held at Bangor and organised by Prof. Raluca Radulescu since 2005. [http://palaeography_training.bangor.ac.uk//index.php] From 2009/10 this group developed into an international research network coordinated jointly by Dr Radulescu and Dr Margaret Connolly (St Andrews University), involving not only scholars from within IMEMS, but also from the rest of the UK and Europe, the US and Australia. The networks activities have consisted in video-linked round tables and access grid seminars and training workshops for postgraduates and culminated in the first international event, a British Academy-sponsored and hosted conference under the title Insular Books: Vernacular Miscellanies in Late Medieval Britain, which took place at the British Academy 21-23 June 2012 [https://www.britac.ac.uk/events/2012/Insular_Books_Vernacular_Misc_in_Late_Med_Britain.cfm], the proceedings of which are currently being edited by Dr Radulescu and Dr Connolly (forthcoming 2014). In 2013 IMEMS hosted an internal video-conference follow-up workshop, bringing together the latest research in the institute on this major research theme.
