Call for Expressions of Interest
Institute for Medieval and Early Modern Studies, Bangor University and Aberystwyth University, Wales, Expressions of Interest in Marie Skłodowska-Curie.
Individual Fellowships
The Institute for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (IMEMS) at Bangor and Aberystwyth Universities, Wales, UK, is inviting expressions of interest from researchers interested in applying to the European Commission’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie 2016 Individual Fellowship scheme with Bangor or Aberystwyth as the host. At both Universities we have a successful history of hosting fellows, and are currently home to Marie Curie Fellows. We would like to encourage enthusiastic individuals with an interest in the Institute’s research (www.imems.ac.uk) which includes, but is not limited to...
- travel
- material culture (including manuscripts)
- gender and devotion
- history of emotions
- time and memory
Eligibility criteria
Applicants of any nationality are eligible for the ‘European Fellowship scheme’. However there are some additional criteria to be aware of:
- You must not have been living or working in the UK for more than 12 of the 36 months prior to the submission deadline of 13 September 2016.
- You must have either a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) or have undertaken at least 48 months of equivalent full-time research – i.e. research undertaken since you have achieved a qualification that would allow you to undertake a doctoral degree in the UK.
There is no age restriction or restriction on seniority, although please bear in mind the fellowships are designed for early career researchers and as such they focus on training as much as research. The fellowships can be held for between 12 and 24 months.
There are some exceptions to the above, e.g. parental leave, military service, refugee status. The complete rules can be consulted in the Guide for Applicants on:

Selection process
To submit an expression of interest to the School, please send a pdf of a CV, confirmation that you meet the eligibility criteria, and a one page pdf outline of your project idea to us via the email enquiries@aberbangorstrategicalliance.ac.uk. Deadline: 10 June 2016.
Informal enquiries are also welcome; send them to one of the co-directors, Prof. Raluca Radulescu (r.radulescu@aber.ac.uk) or Dr Gabor Gelleri (gag9@aber.ac.uk). If you have not already identified a potential academic or research group to work with in the email, we will discuss this with you on after consideration within the institute.
